Now there are many problems with me as a person, my wife will tell you that. But the main one is that when I see something that looks like this:
My brain pretty much immediately turns it into this:
And that makes it seem like a good thing on which to spend $500. Mainly because it looks rusty, not rotted.
Vintage stocker has been what I’ve had on the mind lately. So things like this ‘58 Fairlane, or a ‘62 Galaxie, or basically any other late 50s early 60s mid or full size American car is doing it for me.
I’ll get over it tomorrow when I have to buy a box of size 3 diapers though, and remember that those fuckers will be a part of my life for the next year or so.

I’m with ya.. It’s like how a hoarder is blind to their messes. Sometimes I only see the finished product. Or what it could be.

I would do the bare minimum to make it daily drivable.

I have a real problem with this. I had to stop even considering projects. I will have the vision and refuse to compromise with myself or the real world. I am learning a little though, I just got my old valiant running and driving again. I just oem stuff back on it; brakes, suspension, maintenance stuff; and make it my daily driver. That should make me keep it stock and just fix stuff and have just a regular old car. It’s not restored or anything, but it is very very good shape for a 43 year old car. On the other hand, I also have an old Dodge Lancer that I want to put a 2JZ into and paint it to incorporate the tri-color Toyota colors.

My problem is that when I see a picture like that I think of those ads with the abandoned puppies and I think, “I must save them all!” That’s when my wife takes away my phone and my checkbook.

I’m glad I’m not the only one with just this one character defect. There’s a ‘65 Galaxie listed not too far away that's already done up as an old stocker that has all of my wants, but the diapers... oh, the diapers.

Can’t beat much for less than a quid!
Saying that, I'd probably pay someone not to have to drive a Daewoo Matiz...
